Dollar Spot & General Fungus ControlIf you had it last year you will have it again this year so the best offense is a good defense. We start our preventative programs in May before the disease starts and apply every 14 to 21 days until September. If you were surprised by it this year we can still help. Call us ASAP but please realize that while our program will stop the spreading and help your lawn recover, the damaged grass you have now won't recover till fall.

Creeping Bentgrass Control
Creeping Bentgrass is typically planted on golf course putting greens where it makes a perfect putting surface. Unfortunately, when found on homeowner lawns it is considered a weed. Unlike typical lawn grasses Creeping Bentgrass is prone to disease and when kept longer than 1", it gets puffy and stringy and flattened down by the mowers. If you have areas in your lawn that look like the pictures to the right then you have a Creeping Bentgrass problem and we can help. Three treatments, each 3 weeks apart with a product newly labelled for Bentgrass control will kill the Bentgrass without permanently harming the rest of your lawn.

Lime for soil pH CorrectionAcid rain and other factors lower the soil pH. Optimal soil pH is a major factor in nutrient availably, microbial activity , sold structure and overall turf vigor. Maintaining the correct soil pH allows the lawn to efficiently use fertilizer, and other products we apply. Greenleaf uses only Solu-Cal USA products. Unlike the white powder you typically see landscaper's throwing on a lawn, Solu-Cal actually works. Typically one application in the spring should be enough to bring your lawns pH up to the optimal range for the growing season

Yellow Nutsedge

Yellow Nutsedge ... Kalinga, Nutgrass or Sedgegrass ... call it what you will but it's the light green grass that grows 10 time faster than the rest of your lawn. Nutgrass is the really long light green grass while Kalinga is the smaller variety but each will outgrow your regular lawn 10 to one. Visible in mid to late June thru August, these pests were rarely seen on Long Island 10 years ago. However now, thanks to global warming, Nutsedge is popping up everywhere today. Pulling it our just makes it spread and spread it will. It will take over your lawn unless its properly controlled. Unfortunately, traditional weed killers don't work on Yellow Nutsedge or Kalinga so it must be treated with a separate product. Generally 1 application in late June or early July will be sufficient to control this pest and keep it from taking over your lawn.
